Loved this as a companion to Tolkien's work and looking forward to using it to help navigate the novels outside of the lord of the rings and hobbit books :)

Gorgeous art.

it is an excellent introduction to the Silmarillion, Tolkien's greatest work.

This gets an extra third star solely for the artist Sam Hadley and their four artworks featured in this book.
I would sell my soul for my own artwork from this artist. Their balrog piece specifically is

This book was given to me by my BFF to show her love for me! And she couldn't have chosen a better representation of our geeky relationship :) It's simply beautiful book; it has beautiful map end pages and lovely colorful pictures and scripted font. It's perfect. It even smells good. And there's tons of info on Middle Earth, helpful and concise. Love it!

Honestly learned so much about my favorite fantasy reading this! It was a real treat and I treasured every bit of it. The maps had about the level of detail as the short blurbs on each subject, but enough to get an idea of the world and the lore.
